CLOKED OUT. STILL CLOCKED IN ON FLAVOUR.

Everything you want from a good cup of coffee, minus the caffeine. Vanilla and marshmallow sweetness up front, stone fruit at the finish. Smooth, full-bodied, and honestly, if nobody told you it was decaf, you probably wouldn't know.

The caffeine is removed using a natural process derived from fruits and vegetables. No harsh chemicals. No stripped-out flavour. Just a clean cup you can drink at 9pm without staring at the ceiling at 2am.

Off Duty (Decaf)

$20.99 CAD

Real decaf. Not an afterthought.

Off Duty comes from the Chiapas region in southern Mexico — one of the country's most respected coffee-growing areas. At 1,500 metres elevation, the farms sit in lush, mountainous terrain with the altitude and soil to produce specialty-grade beans. The varieties grown here — Bourbon, Typica, and Caturra — are the same ones you'll find in the best cafes in the world. The difference is what happens next.

The caffeine is removed using Ethyl Acetate (EA), a compound that occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables. Here's how it works: green coffee beans are steamed to open their pores, then soaked in EA, which bonds with the caffeine molecules and pulls them out. After extraction, the beans are rinsed thoroughly and dried back to their original moisture content before roasting.

Why this matters: most commercial decaf uses chemical solvents that strip flavour along with caffeine. The EA process is gentler. It targets the caffeine specifically and leaves the original flavour profile largely intact. That's why Off Duty still tastes like real coffee — vanilla sweetness, marshmallow body, stone fruit at the end — instead of tasting like cardboard.

Most decaf coffee is bad because nobody cares about it. It's an obligation on the menu, not a priority. Off Duty is different. We started with a high-quality single origin from Mexico and chose a decaf process that actually preserves what makes it good.

FAQs

When do you guys roast each batch?

We roast fresh every week according to the volume needed each day.

Whole bean or ground? which should I pick?

Whole bean keeps the flavour locked in longer. But if you don't have a grinder, ground works just fine. We grind it right before we ship so it's as fresh as possible. No judgement either way — just drink what works for you.

How should I store my coffee?

Cool, dry place. Keep the bag sealed. Don't put it in the fridge or freezer — that actually pulls moisture in and kills the flavour. A cupboard is perfect.

How much coffee do I need?

A 340g (12oz) bag gets most people through about 20 to 25 cups. A 2lb bag is roughly 45 to 50 cups. Depends on how strong you like it and how many cups you go through, but that's the ballpark.

Do you offer subscriptions?

Yes. Set your frequency and we'll ship automatically so you never run out. Subscribers save 15% on every order. You can pause, skip, or cancel anytime — no contracts, no hassle.

How long does shipping take?

Local orders (Edmonton, Leduc, Nisku area) ship the same week. Canada-wide orders typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days. Free shipping on orders over $75.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes. Free pickup at The First Sip — Premium Outlet Collection EIA, Leduc County, Alberta. Just select local pickup at checkout.

What if I don't like it?

Reach out to us. We're not going to make it weird. If you're not happy, we'll make it right.

Where are your beans from?

Every roast has a different origin — Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico. The full story is in the "Origin Details" section on each product page. We are continuously expanding our sources as we grow. We know exactly where every bean comes from and who grew it.

Do you sell to businesses?

We do. We work with offices, shops, restaurants, hotels, and industrial sites across Edmonton and surrounding towns. Free delivery, flexible schedules, and equipment options available. Reach out and we'll set up a tasting for your team.
